In the east of Guangdong, a super water conservancy project, the East of Guangdong water resources allocation project, is attracting the attention of the world with its grand scale and exquisite skills. With a total investment of more than 30 billion yuan, this arduous project lasted four and a half years, and more than 70,000 builders poured countless efforts into it. So how did this "super water project" in the Greater Bay Area turn from a blueprint into a reality?

First of all, we must understand that building such a water project is not easy. Along the way, the engineering team built 37 ultra-deep vertical working Wells. These working Wells are not just simple wellheads, but key nodes of the entire project. They provide access and exit channels for the shield tunneling machine and ensure the smooth progress of the tunnel excavation project.

In March 2020, when the first shield machine was launched, the journey through the challenge was officially started. The shield machine, which is often used in the construction of subways and tunnels, has played a crucial role in the water resources allocation project in eastern Guangdong. 48 "tailor-made" shield machines fought side by side at 40-60 meters underground in the Pearl River Delta, and together they overcame a series of technical problems such as large buried depth of the line, strong permeable surrounding rock, and difficult submarine tool change.

In this epic project, the shield machine not only had to dig tunnels, but also faced the challenge of traversing complex terrain. The project has crossed four high-speed railways, eight subways, 12 expressways and 16 rivers, lakes and seas, each of which is a test of the wisdom and technology of the construction team. After 1,272 days of continuous fighting, the tunnel was finally pierced.

Of course, just finishing digging the tunnel is only part of the project. In order to ensure the normal operation of the water pipeline, the builders also carried out the lining construction of the water pipeline. This link is vividly called "fine decoration", which involves a number of world-class technical problems such as long-distance deep-buried shield construction, high-water pressure lining design and construction, wide-head variable speed pump research and development, and long-distance deep-buried pipeline maintenance.

After countless trials and improvements, the builders succeeded in overcoming these problems. Finally, the world's largest long-distance pressurized water transfer project was completed. Now, when people come to the Gongming reservoir in Shenzhen, they can already see the clear spring at the water outlet of the project. This is the water of the long journey from the Xijiang River, which bears witness to the perfect combination of human wisdom and natural power.

The East Guangdong Water resources allocation project not only provides stable and reliable water resources guarantee for the east Guangdong region, but also becomes a landmark project showing China's construction strength. It proves to the world that no matter how big the challenges and difficulties are, as long as we have strong determination and excellent technology, there is no dream that cannot be realized.
