On February 18, 2024, the first working day of the the Year of the Loong, Zhejiang Province held the 2024 "1000 trillion" major project centralized commencement and operation activity. Zhejiang Jinqimen Nuclear Power Project Phase I, invested and held by China Nuclear Power Corporation, a subsidiary of CNNC Group, is one of the projects announced to start construction in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province.

Jinqimen Nuclear Power actively implements the relevant requirements of the meeting, plans to build 6 third-generation nuclear power units, all of which adopt the "Hualong No.1" technology, meet the highest international safety standards, and will create a new paradigm for the development of China National Nuclear Corporation's nuclear energy industry in Zhejiang. The commencement of this project will inject new impetus into the optimization and transformation of the energy structure in Zhejiang Province.

The national business card "Hualong No.1" is an important achievement of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) in accelerating the realization of high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement, and implementing the national "dual carbon" strategy. At present, "Hualong No.1" has become one of the most competitive third-generation nuclear power motor models in the world nuclear power market. It is understood that each nuclear power unit of "Hualong No.1" generates over 10 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which can meet the annual production and daily electricity needs of one million people in moderately developed countries; At the same time, it is equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by 3.12 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 8.16 million tons annually, which is equivalent to planting more than 70 million trees for afforestation.

The Jinqimen Nuclear Power Project is located in Jinqimen Village, Xiangshan County, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. It is developed and constructed by CNNC Zhejiang Energy Co., Ltd., which is controlled by China Nuclear Power Corporation. The project will be constructed in stages, and the first phase of the project will involve two million kilowatt nuclear power units. After the completion of the 6 units in the project, the total installed capacity is about 7.2 million kilowatts, with an annual grid connected electricity of about 55 billion kilowatt hours, which is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 50 million tons and planting trees to cover the area of 31 West Lake scenic spots.
