Driving into the National Agricultural Research Center in Pakistan, carefully managed wheat experimental fields come into view, with variety names prominently marked in front of each field. Among them, there are also new wheat varieties cultivated jointly by researchers from China and Pakistan.

Researcher He Zhonghu from the Crop Science Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences listened carefully to the detailed introduction of the Pakistani researchers. At the same time, he leaned down and gently stroked the wheat leaves, looking at these beautiful growing wheat. His face couldn't help but show a pleased smile, and he was very satisfied with the results of the cooperation between the two sides.

The Institute of Agricultural Sciences has been cooperating with relevant institutions in Pakistan for more than ten years, cultivating nine scientific researchers for the Pakistani side and establishing an international joint laboratory. Dedicated to improving the breeding level of wheat in Pakistan, especially in terms of disease resistance.

He Zhonghu said, "We hope to promote the improvement of wheat breeding in Pakistan, especially in disease resistance, by applying new molecular breeding technologies, and contribute to local food security."

The head of the laboratory said that Pakistan is a major wheat consumer, and cultivating new wheat varieties that adapt to climate change is crucial for ensuring Pakistan's food security. The joint laboratory has currently cultivated two wheat varieties suitable for cultivation in the northern region of Pakistan. Over the past two years, we have been testing new wheat varieties that yield 8% to 10% more than the previously planted varieties in the region. We hope that the introduction of these new varieties can significantly increase local wheat production and farmers' income.

This cooperation model not only helps to improve agricultural production efficiency and quality level, but also promotes regional stability and prosperity. The cooperation between China and Pakistan in the field of agriculture has achieved significant results, and in the future, both sides will continue to deepen cooperation to bring more benefits to the people of both countries.
