On March 20, 2024, a symposium on the the Belt and Road was held in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. About 50 government officials, business representatives, experts and scholars from China and Ethiopia spoke positively of the the Belt and Road Initiative, which provides a cooperation platform for both sides and promotes mutual benefit and win-win results between Africa and China.

The symposium was organized by the the Belt and Road College of Beijing Normal University. Director General of the Department of Middle East, Asia and the Pacific Affairs of the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said at the symposium that since China put forward the the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, the initiative has developed into an open, inclusive and mutually beneficial global international cooperation platform. "The the Belt and Road Initiative will continue to promote the socio-economic development of Ethiopia and other countries jointly built.

Mekonen, from the Ethiopian Highway Authority, studied at Beijing Normal University in 2022 and was impressed by the the Belt and Road Initiative. He said that Chinese enterprises have undertaken many infrastructure projects in Ethiopia and completed them efficiently and with high quality, which greatly promotes local connectivity. The most representative projects include the Addis Ababa Djibouti Railway and Ethiopia's first expressway.

"Giving people fish is better than giving people fish." Wu Jiuyi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of CSCEC Ethiopia Engineering Co., Ltd., said that the development of Chinese enterprises in Ethiopia cannot be separated from the long-term concern and support of the local government. Chinese enterprises have the responsibility to implement the relevant projects of the the Belt and Road Initiative, and hire local employees to achieve technology transfer while promoting local economic and social development.

Xu Jianping, Director of the Regional Opening up Department of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, said in his speech that the initiative of jointly building the the Belt and Road has gone through a brilliant decade and now has opened a new stage of high-quality development. So far, more than 150 countries and 30 international organizations have participated in this initiative, and the scope of cooperation is constantly expanding, the level of cooperation is constantly deepening, and the scope of cooperation is also constantly expanding.
