On the morning of April 1, at the underground plant operation site of Qinghai Maerblock Hydropower Station of the National Energy Group, after 72 hours of full load trial operation and completion of various inspections and elimination work, the first unit 5 of the power station successfully realized grid-connected power generation. Maerblock Hydropower Station is located on the main stream of the Yellow River, about 5 kilometers upstream of Laga Town, Maqin County, Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, with an average altitude of 3,300 meters and a total installed capacity of 2.32 million kilowatts. It is the highest and largest hydropower station under construction in the Yellow River Basin, and it is also the backbone power point of the state's implementation of "West to East power transmission" and "green electricity into Henan". It is understood that the Marblock hydropower station is located at an average altitude of 3,300 meters on the Tibetan Plateau, the oxygen content is only 60% of the plain area, is a typical high altitude area. It has created the excellent achievements of "complete installation of all the 5 units' ring volutes and the following embedded parts 40 days in advance", "the construction speed of the extruded side wall is the leading level of the same type of engineering in the world", "the pouring quality of the rock anchor beam has reached the first-class level in China" and "the installation of the tailwater elbow pipe of Unit 5 has set a new record for the construction period at high altitude".

According to reports, the dam of Maerblock hydropower Station is built by the third hydropower Bureau, the mechanical and electrical installation is built by the seventh hydropower Bureau, and the tunnel excavation (workshop) is built by Gezhouba Group. After the whole unit of the project is put into operation, it is expected that the average annual electricity generation will reach 7.304 billion KWH, which can meet the electricity demand of 1.825 million households with an annual electricity consumption of 4,000 degrees, save about 2.2 million tons of standard coal every year, reduce the emission of carbon dioxide about 8.16 million tons, and reduce the emission of sulfur dioxide about 30,400 tons.

In the future, the National Energy Group will rely on the Maerblock hydropower station, give full play to the advantages of surrounding new energy resources, set water energy, wind energy, light energy "multi-energy complementary" in one, through a variety of energy complementary development, the configuration of various renewable energy 31.12 million kilowatts, to build Maerblock "water scenery storage" ten kilowatt level of clean energy integration base. The base has been included in the "14th Five-Year Plan" energy development plan of Qinghai Province, and is expected to be completed and put into operation at the end of the "15th Five-Year Plan", which is of great significance for Qinghai Province to build a clean energy industry highland, build a national green, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system and implement the western development strategy in the new era.
