Xinjiang Mulei South 750 kV power transmission and distribution project has officially started construction recently. The completion of the project will ensure that the electricity generated by the new energy base in the Gurbantunggut Desert, the second largest desert in Xinjiang, can be fully consumed, thereby effectively promoting the development and utilization of local new energy.

Mulei South 750 kV power transmission and transformation project is located in the eastern part of Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang. The investment in this project is expected to reach 1.213 billion yuan. Once the project is completed and put into operation, it will be able to effectively support the Changji area's new energy power output demand of up to 2,100 megawatts, providing a solid guarantee for the development of the local new energy industry. This important measure not only helps promote the use of clean energy in Changji Prefecture and even the entire Xinjiang region, but also further demonstrates China’s development strength and determination in the field of new energy.

Wu Jianbo, project manager of State Grid Xinjiang Construction Branch, said in an interview that the company has made full use of the local abundant light and wind resource advantages and installed photovoltaic panels in the substation to generate electricity. This initiative not only provides clean energy supply for production and life in the substation, but also effectively reduces carbon emissions and plays a positive role in promoting environmental protection and sustainable development. Xinjiang is among the nine onshore clean energy bases created by China’s “14th Five-Year Plan”, demonstrating its prominent position in the field of clean energy. Looking forward to 2024, Xinjiang is actively planning the construction of ultra-high voltage power grid projects, with a total of 26 planned projects and a total line length of 5,427 kilometers. This grand blueprint will undoubtedly inject strong impetus into the development of clean energy in Xinjiang and even the country.
