On the morning of April 18, 2024, the high-profile China-ASEAN Beihai Sports Training Base project officially kicked off its construction. Relevant leaders of the Beihai Municipal Government came to the site in person, attended the grand opening ceremony, and announced the official start of the project.

The project is located on the east side of Beihai Sports School on Yintan Avenue, covering an area of about 500 acres, and the total construction area will reach 124,000 square meters. The project plan includes three venues, namely a stadium, a comprehensive gymnasium, a swimming pool and a regular training hall, and will also be supported by a series of related projects. It is reported that the total investment of the entire project is expected to be approximately 1.385 billion yuan.

The China-ASEAN Beihai Sports Training Base project not only carries the important mission of hosting the 16th Games of the Autonomous Region, but will also become a core venue for Beihai to cooperate with ASEAN in the field of sports and host various domestic events and cultural and sports activities. The project leader said that the project is scheduled to be completed in March 2026, and trial operation will be carried out simultaneously. It is expected to be officially put into use in October of the same year.

The completion of this major project will further enhance the urban quality of Beihai, improve urban functions, and meet the growing sports and cultural needs of the general public. At the same time, it will also inject new vitality into the development of cultural tourism in Beihai and promote the city's cultural and sports undertakings to a new level.
