Indonesian Ambassador to China Zhou Haoli said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency in Jakarta recently that the current relations between Indonesia and China are sound, with broad areas of cooperation and huge potential, and bilateral cooperation and exchanges will continue to deepen in the future.

Zhou first recalled his recent visit to Beijing with Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto. "I think the current relationship between Indonesia and China is very good, and the development trend is good," he said. "We hope that the friendly relations and policies between the two countries will continue."

Zhou Haoli stressed that China's current investment in Indonesia is huge, and Chinese investment is very important for Indonesia. "In the future, the two governments will focus on all-round cooperation in infrastructure, mining, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, digital economy, green economy and health, and of course the construction of Indonesia's new capital, Nusantara." 'he said.

To meet its carbon commitments, the Indonesian government wants to create an electric vehicle ecosystem, Zhou said. Indonesia has established electric vehicle partnerships with a number of Chinese car companies, including SAIC Wuling, Chery and BYD.

"Chinese electric cars are very popular in Indonesia and can be seen everywhere in Jakarta. My son bought an electric car from a Chinese brand." Zhou Haoli said.

Zhou Haoli said that in addition to learning from China's new energy ecological construction, Indonesia also hopes to achieve comprehensive poverty alleviation like China. He said that the Indonesian government has organized many local village heads to visit China to learn grassroots governance capacity and rural economic construction, and ultimately let villagers out of poverty.

Zhou Haoli believes that people-to-people exchanges between Indonesia and China are very important. He said that the cooperation in the field of education between the two countries has been continuously deepened, with more and more Indonesian and Chinese universities establishing cooperative relations and more and more Indonesian and Chinese students studying in each other's countries. The two leaders also discussed cooperation in vocational education and training on several occasions.

'Chinese consumers' interest in Indonesian products has been increasing,' Mr. Zhou said. In addition to commodities, Indonesia's exports to China, such as coffee, bird's nest and fruit, are growing. He is very optimistic that China can achieve the target of 5% economic growth this year, and he believes that there is more potential for cooperation between the two sides.

Talking about inter-regional cooperation, Zhou Haoli said that most ASEAN countries are developing countries. Indonesia and ASEAN will continue to strengthen cooperation with China, which will ultimately contribute to regional economic development, peace and stability.
