The project is located about 1.5 kilometers upstream of the Guxi River's mouth into the Yangtze River in Dangtu County. Its construction scale is grand. From the left bank to the right bank, the left bank connecting embankment, the left bank empty box-type quay wall and fishway, the control lock, the ship lock, Facilities such as the empty box-type quay wall on the right bank and the connecting embankment on the right bank. Among them, the control gate has extremely high design standards and can handle a flood that occurs once in 50 years, with a flow rate of 3,030 cubic meters per second. It can even be calibrated to a flood that occurs once in 100 years, with a flow rate of up to 3,400 cubic meters per second.

The entire project is a large (2) type project, with a project grade of Level II. The main building in the control lock part is Level 2, the secondary buildings are Level 3, and the ship lock is Level III. The total project investment is expected to reach 1.832 billion yuan, with a total construction period of 34 months.

The completion of the project will have a positive impact on the irrigation area of Anhui and Jiangsu provinces. It is expected to improve the irrigation area of about 910,000 acres. At the same time, the water storage capacity of rivers and lakes will also increase to about 670 million cubic meters. This will further improve the level of irrigation and water supply security in the lower reaches of the Sanjiang Basin, improve shipping conditions, enhance flood prevention and disaster reduction capabilities, and contribute to the protection and restoration of the water ecological environment.

Currently, Ma'anshan City is making every effort to promote the preliminary design preparation and construction bidding of the project. It plans to submit the preliminary design to the Provincial Department of Water Resources for review before the end of April, and strives to obtain approval in early May and start construction before the end of May. construction.
