The preliminary design scheme review meeting of the 5# General berths project in the West operation area of the China-Port Area of Weifang Port, Bohai Bay Port, Shandong Port, was successfully held recently in Weifang City. The review meeting brought together experienced and outstanding experts from various fields of the industry, who carefully reviewed and strictly controlled the design proposal to ensure the effective control of the project cost. The goal of this design is to build the project into a domestic technology leading wood chip dock demonstration benchmark. After in-depth consideration and comprehensive study and judgment of the experts and participants, everyone unanimously agreed on the preliminary design scheme of the 5# general berth project in the West operation area of Weifang Port Zhonggang Area, and successfully passed the review.

The project plans to build a 50,000-ton general berth, which is expected to reach an annual throughput of 3 million tons. The total length of the pier is 267 meters, the width is 35 meters, the front top is 5 meters, and the design bottom is -14 meters. The storage yard is located at the rear of the wharf and is closely connected to the wharf by two approach Bridges. In terms of structure, the wharf and approach bridge have adopted prefabricated high pile beam and plate structure to ensure stability and safety. For loading and unloading operations, bridge grab ship unloaders will be used, while horizontal transport relies on belt conveyors and towed flatbeds. For the stacking and loading operations of wood chips, the unloading trolley and the crawler bucket wheel reclaimer are used respectively to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the operation.

The construction of the project is of great significance to the Weifang Port area. It will promote the rapid development of the Port area in the whole industry chain and supply chain of wood chips, thereby enhancing the overall capacity of bulk and general cargo transportation in the Port area. This will not only help to better meet the logistics and transportation needs of paper enterprises in the hinterland, but also further enhance the competitive advantage of the paper industry and promote the vigorous development of the paper industry in the hinterland. Through this project, Weifang Port will contribute an important force to the growth of regional economy and show its positive role in promoting local development.

At present, key steps such as project filing, shoreline application, safety pre-assessment and occupational disease assessment have been successfully approved, and the approval of sea use and environmental assessment is about to be completed. The preliminary work is advancing steadily at an unprecedented speed, and the smooth passage of the preliminary design review symbolizes that the project has entered the countdown stage and will soon enter the substantive construction implementation stage. This milestone has laid a solid foundation for the early start of construction of the project. Next, Bohai Bay Port will firmly aim to take the comprehensive breakthrough year as a guide, shoulder the heavy responsibility of building first-class port facilities, and contribute to the construction of world-class port groups in Shandong Province.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
