On April 26, Yunnan Fumin pumped storage Power Station, the first pumped storage power station in Yunnan Province developed by the whole industrial chain integration of Power Construction of China, officially started.

Yunnan Fumin Pumped storage Power Station is the national "14th Five-Year Plan" key implementation project, Yunnan Province's first approved and started construction of pumped storage project. The project is developed by the Power Construction Hydropower Development Company of Power Construction Corporation of China, and Kunming Institute is responsible for the preliminary investigation and design.

The project is located in Fumin County, Kunming, Yunnan Province, about 53 kilometers away from Kunming. The total installed capacity of the power station is 1.4 million kilowatts, and the average designed annual generating capacity is 1.454 billion kilowatt-hours. The project consists of upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water delivery system, underground workshop, ground switching station and water refill system.

After the completion of the power station, the main task of Yunnan power grid peak load, valley filling, energy storage, frequency modulation, phase modulation, emergency backup and other tasks, can reduce coal consumption of about 881,000 tons per year, absorb 1.939 billion KWH of off-peak electricity, provide 1.454 billion KWH of peak electricity, will further optimize the energy structure of central Yunnan region.
