On April 27, 2024, PowerChina East China Institute announced the procurement results of the EPC general contracting project of Huaneng Yuhuan No. 2 offshore wind power Project, which involves 108MW (composed of 6 18MW wind turbines) wind turbines and their supporting towers and five years of complete machine maintenance services. After the bidding, Dongfang Wind Power successfully won the bid and became the supplier of the project.

The project is located in the Pishan sea area of Yuhuan City, 34 kilometers away from the center of the site. The site is a parallelogram, 4.0 kilometers long from east to west, 9.8 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 41.9 square kilometers. The number and capacity of wind turbines planned to be installed in the project are optimized and selected, and 36 14MW wind turbines are planned to be installed, with a total installed capacity of 504MW. This scale makes the project one of the largest offshore wind power projects along the southeast coast of Zhejiang.

The total investment of the project is about 6.67 billion yuan, which is jointly developed and constructed by Huaneng Zhejiang Company and Jinkosolar. The project officially started on June 27, 2023, and is scheduled to be connected to the grid in 2024. It is expected that after the full capacity is put into operation, the annual on-grid electricity will reach about 1.69 billion KWH, providing stable power support for the local economy and society.

The successful implementation of Huaneng Yuhuan 2 offshore wind power project will not only enhance China's technical level and market competitiveness in the field of offshore wind power, but also provide strong support for the transformation of energy structure and the development of green and low-carbon industries in Yuhuan City and even Zhejiang Province. The construction and operation of the project will also create a large number of jobs and promote the sustainable development of the local economy and society.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
