On May 4, 2024, it was learned that the EPC of Railway Light 200MW roof distributed photovoltaic project of Huaneng Qingenergy Branch started the pre-bidding process. According to the tender announcement, Huaneng Henan Qingneng Branch and its subsidiaries will use the roofs of houses owned by Zhengzhou Railway Bureau, slopes along the railway and idle areas and other Spaces to carry out the development of distributed photovoltaic projects. With a planned total development capacity of 200MW, the project aims to make efficient use of space resources within the railway system, promote the use of clean energy and provide sustainable energy support for railway operations.

Regarding the Railway Light distributed photovoltaic project of Qingneng Branch of Huaneng Henan Branch, each sub-project power station plans to access the power grid through 10kV or 400V voltage level. It is expected that 150MWp (megawatt peak) plants will be connected through the 400V voltage class, while the remaining 50MWp plants will be connected through the 10kV voltage class. The project will follow the principle of self-use, surplus electricity online, that is, priority to meet the needs of the project itself or the railway system, excess electricity will be transferred to the public grid.

On February 5, 2024, the National Railway Administration jointly issued the "Implementation Plan for Promoting Low-carbon Development of the Railway Industry". The plan stressed that all industries and departments should actively respond to the call of the national Leading Group on Climate change and energy Conservation and emission reduction, strengthen organizational leadership by strengthening cross-departmental cooperation and overall coordination, and ensure the effective implementation of key tasks in the low-carbon development of the railway industry. The release of this program provides policy support and guidance for the Railway Light distributed photovoltaic project of Qingneng Branch of Huaneng Henan Branch, and further promotes the transformation of the railway industry to green and low-carbon.

The implementation plan details how to widely apply energy-saving and new energy technologies, especially photovoltaic power generation, in railway yards and stations. Specifically, the roofing of buildings such as new railway yards will give priority to the use of photovoltaic building integration (BIPV) technology, or reserve conditions for the installation of photovoltaic power generation systems in the design. Starting in 2024, all new large terminals must adopt advanced energy management technology and meet the three-star green building standard, which usually covers energy conservation, environmental protection, health and other requirements. The plan also emphasizes the need to speed up the intelligent control transformation of the green lighting system of large terminals, and gradually replace the lighting facilities such as station buildings, light Bridges, lighthouses, and landscapes with light-emitting diode (LED) light sources to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

As one of the major sources of carbon emissions, China's transport sector accounts for about 10.4% of the country's total carbon emissions. Compared with Europe and the United States and other countries, China's transport carbon emissions show a relatively low proportion, but the growth rate is fast, and has a huge potential to reduce emissions. It is particularly noteworthy that road transport occupies an overwhelming position in the carbon emissions in the field of transportation, with a contribution rate of more than 85%, so it has become the absolute main body of carbon emissions in the field and the top priority of emission reduction work. It can be seen that promoting the low-carbon transformation of the transport industry, especially road transport, is of great significance for China to achieve its overall carbon reduction target.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
