Recently, the four stations and three lines of the Uganda Karuma Hydropower Station transmission and transformation project have been successfully handed over. This milestone achievement marks another important contribution of China to infrastructure construction in Africa. The project will not only greatly improve Uganda's power supply, but also help promote the sustainable development of the local economy.

The Karuma Transmission and Transformation Project is a supporting project for the Karuma Hydropower Station, including three transmission lines and four substations: the total length of the line is 379 kilometers, including four substations: 400 kV Karuma, 400 kV Kawanda, 400 kV Owea, and 132 kV Lira, three transmission lines: Karuma-Kawanda, Karuma-Lira and Karuma-Owea, of which 303 kilometers are 400 kV double-circuit lines and 76 kilometers are 132 kV double-circuit lines. Three new 400 kV substations and one expanded 132 kV substation.

The Karuma Hydropower Station is located on the Victoria Nile River in northern Uganda and is one of the most important infrastructure construction projects in Uganda in recent years. Its transmission and transformation project of four stations and three lines is the core component of the power station, including four substations and three transmission lines. The construction of these facilities will effectively alleviate the long-standing power shortage problem faced by Uganda and improve the stability and reliability of the power system.

The successful handover of the four stations and three lines is not only a recognition of the hard work of the Chinese team, but also another important achievement of the cooperation between China and Uganda in the field of infrastructure construction. This project will help improve Uganda's electricity self-sufficiency rate and promote the development of local industries, agriculture and people's livelihood. At the same time, it will also create more employment opportunities for Uganda and improve people's living standards.Editor/Li Chunwen
