[Henan Zhaopingtai reservoir expansion project may be approved]The National Development and Reform Commission has approved a feasibility study report on the expansion of Zhaopingtai reservoir in Henan province. The estimated total investment of the project is 6.191 billion yuan, and the construction period is 48 months. Zhaopingtai Reservoir expansion project is located in Lushan County, Pingdingshan City. It is a major water conservancy project included in the national "14th Five-Year Plan" water safety Guarantee Plan. It is an important control project of Henan Provincial Party Committee and provincial government focusing on the protection of the Huaihe River and the implementation of the plan, and it is also a large-scale water conservancy project supported by increasing the issuance of national debt funds. According to the approval, on the basis of the existing Zhaopingtai reservoir dam, it will be enlarged into a large (1) type reservoir. The project is based on flood control and irrigation, combined with water supply and comprehensive utilization of power generation. The construction tasks include raising the existing barrage and auxiliary dam, with the maximum dam height of 48.33 meters. After the Zhaopingtai Reservoir expansion project is completed, combined with the reservoir and flood detention area in the basin, it will effectively improve the main stream flood control standard of Shaying River. At the same time, it can effectively solve the production and living water problems in the surrounding urban areas, further meet the irrigation needs of Zhapingtai irrigation District, and improve the regional ecological environment.
