On June 12, local time, PowerChina and the project owner officially signed the construction contract for the dam and tunnel section of the Tina hydropower Station project in Solomon Islands. The project is the company's first hydropower project in the Solomon Islands and marks an important breakthrough for the company's business in the South Pacific island nation.

The Tina hydropower project is located in Malango District, Guadalcanal Province, Solomon Islands, about 15 km from the capital Honiara. The plant has a total installed capacity of 15 megawatts and an annual generating capacity of 78 million KWH. The main project includes the construction of a 71.3 meter high RCC dam, 3.3 km diversion tunnel and power plant. When completed, the project will be the largest hydropower plant in the Solomon Islands, meeting 68% of the electricity needs of the Solomon Islands Capital Region and benefiting more than 100,000 people.
