China-Europe Express hit a record high in monthly volume in May. Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular press conference on June 19 that China is willing to continue to work together with countries along the route to accelerate the high-quality development of China-Europe Express and better ensure the stability of the global production and supply chain.

Lin Jian said that since 2024, China-Europe Express has continued to create impressive results. Last month, 1,724 China-Europe Express trains were launched, sending 186,000 standard containers of goods, an increase of 14% and 13% year-on-year, respectively, setting a record high for monthly volume. Also in May, the cumulative number of China-Europe Express trains exceeded 90,000, with a cargo value of more than US$380 billion. Last week, China-Europe Express trains with full timetables departing from Chongqing and Yiwu were launched separately, shortening the transportation time from China to Germany to about 13 days.

"The trains whizzing by are loaded with goods and hope, connecting China and Europe, not only allowing the world to see the speed and vitality of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, but also to feel the strength and openness of the Chinese economy." Lin Jian said that international organizations such as the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank have intensively raised their expectations for China's economic growth in recent reports. In May, China's total import and export of goods increased by 8.6% year-on-year, 0.6 percentage points faster than the previous month. In the first five months, the cumulative scale of imports and exports hit a record high for the same period in history.
