On June 30, 2024, the first Central Asia train from Xining to Almaty, Kazakhstan, was successfully launched. The train, loaded with white goods and polyvinyl chloride, departed from Xining Shuangzhai Railway Freight Station, passed through Horgos Port, and finally arrived at its destination, Almaty. This important move marks a new chapter in trade between the two places.

Xining City is located at the intersection of my country's Belt and Road Initiative and the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, and is an important hub connecting the northwest and southwest regions. Zhao Qifeng, deputy director of Xihai Customs, said that in order to ensure the smooth operation of this train, Xihai Customs tailored the train supervision plan for the enterprise, set up a "green channel" and special window for the Central Asia train, and implemented "appointment clearance" and other convenient measures to ensure efficient and fast customs clearance of the train.Xu Guofeng, head of the Xining Comprehensive Bonded Zone Management Committee, said that after the opening of the Xining-Almaty train, the Xining Comprehensive Bonded Zone will, with the support and assistance of the customs, commerce, Qinghai-Tibet Railway Company and other departments, further enhance its ability to guarantee the shipment of products for foreign trade enterprises in the province, better help enterprises save logistics costs, and allow local foreign trade, processing and logistics enterprises to enjoy most of the port's service conveniences at their doorstep.

The operation of the Central Asia train is of great significance to the smooth flow of the Qinghai-Central Asia land transportation corridor and the deepening of economic and trade exchanges between Xining and Central Asia.
