At 11:10 a.m. on August 27, 2024, CNNC’s 20-MW rooftop distributed photovoltaic power generation project in Hengshan County, Hunan Province successfully achieved grid-connected power generation for the first time, marking the project’s official operation.
This project cleverly utilizes the idle rooftop space of public facilities such as party and government agencies, educational institutions, and medical institutions in Hengshan County to deploy distributed photovoltaic systems. The total planned installed capacity of the project reaches 20 megawatts, and the project will flexibly adopt two operating modes: spontaneous self-use, excess power on-grid and all power on-grid to maximize energy utilization efficiency.
Once fully operational, the project is expected to contribute approximately 21 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity to the grid each year, which is equivalent to reducing reliance on approximately 2,500 tons of standard coal per year, while avoiding more than 15,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and more than 21 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions.
During the design and construction process of this project, advanced BIPV technology was actively introduced to minimize the impact on the roofs of existing public buildings. This technology not only effectively reduces the overall temperature of the building and reduces the energy consumption of air conditioning and other equipment, but also enhances the waterproof performance of the roof through its special design, solving potential problems such as water leakage.
Faced with extreme weather challenges such as high temperatures and heavy rains in Hunan during the summer, various departments and project teams of Hunan Company have demonstrated strong cohesion and execution capabilities. Through scientific back-scheduling of construction schedules, precise process control, and strengthened communication and coordination, the smooth progress of project construction was ensured. In particular, the establishment of a daily-weekly-monthly coordination feedback mechanism has effectively improved the transparency and efficiency of project management and laid a solid foundation for the successful grid connection of the project.
