On 14 and 15 September 2024, the R1105 project under the responsibility of the Dubai Road Transport Authority ushered in an important milestone: the two key bridges Ramp1 and Ramp6 were successfully opened to traffic, marking the successful operation of three bridges in the project, and the overall project has taken a solid step towards successful completion. Mr. Hussain Al Banna, CEO of Dubai Road Transport Authority, witnessed this glorious moment and spoke highly of the excellent performance ability of China Civil Engineering.

The R1105 project is located around the E311 highway in Dubai, which is a comprehensive project integrating the construction of four cast-in-place box girder bridges and the surrounding supporting municipal and road works. The Ramp1 bridge, with its length of 344 meters and spanning nine spans, was particularly difficult to construct, not only in the face of complex pier operations in the central separation zone of the expressway, but also limited by the narrow construction space of the gantry steel frame, coupled with the cumbersome NOC approval process and the cross-impact of surrounding projects, making each step of the construction full of challenges.

The Ramp6 bridge, with a total length of 371.5 meters and spanning eight spans, has also experienced twists and turns in its pipeline relocation and traffic diversion work, and was not completed until the end of June, leaving the time for the construction of the main body of the bridge extremely urgent. In the face of such a tight construction period, the Dubai project management department and the project team showed a high degree of professionalism and collaborative spirit, through scientific planning and careful deployment, efficient allocation of resources, racing against time, and finally completed the pouring task of the two-span cast-in-situ beam within one month, demonstrating the strong strength of China Civil Engineering in construction management and winning valuable time for the timely opening of the bridge.

With the opening of the Ramp1 and Ramp6 bridges, the traffic conditions around the project have been significantly improved, and at the same time, the clarion call for the final delivery of the project has been sounded. Next, the Dubai Project Management Department and the R1105 Project Department will actively respond to the call of the superior company for fine management, work hard, continue to optimize the construction plan, keep an eye on the key nodes, and strengthen the management of safety, quality, cost and other aspects, and go all out to sprint the project completion goal to ensure the complete success of the project.Editor/Jiang Mingyue
