China Railway Guangzhou Engineering Bureau Group is making every effort to accelerate the construction process of the Foshan Extra Large Bridge over Dongping Waterway Cable stayed Bridge on the Guangzhou Zhanjiang High speed Railway. The project is expected to be completed and fully connected by early November 2024. This feat not only marks a technological breakthrough, but will also create a world record - becoming the world's first ballastless track cable-stayed bridge designed to reach a speed of 350 kilometers per hour and have the largest span. The successful implementation of this project will undoubtedly further enhance the international status and influence of China's high-speed railway bridge construction.
The newly-built Guangzhou Zhanjiang high-speed railway starts from Guangzhou Station, passes westward through Foshan, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, Yangjiang, Maoming, Zhanjiang, and ends at Zhanjiang North Station, with a newly-built double track of 401 kilometers. The Guangzhou Zhanjiang High speed Railway Third Section Project, constructed by China Railway Guangzhou Engineering Bureau Group, is located in Foshan City with a total length of 15.652 kilometers. The section includes cable-stayed bridges, tied arch bridges, steel-concrete rigid frame bridges, articulated continuous beam bridges, prefabricated simply supported box girders, etc. There are many types of bridges with complex structures, earning it the nickname "Bridge Museum".
Among them, the Foshan Extra Large Bridge spans the Dongping Waterway and adopts an arc-shaped bridge tower structure. The total height of the bridge tower is 147 meters, and the underwater foundation of the tower is 40 pile foundations with a thickness of 2 meters and a depth of 79 meters. The entire bridge is equipped with 72 pairs of high-strength parallel steel wire cables, using a semi floating structural system. The main beam is a steel-concrete composite beam, and the bridge deck adopts a vibration reducing CRTS double block ballastless track with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is a modern bridge that is a technological breakthrough. As of now, the bridge has completed the installation of 14 sections and 104 diagonal cables.
