According to the water allocation plan for 2024-2025 issued by the Ministry of Water Resources, the first phase of the East Line project plans to divert 1.125 billion cubic meters of water to Shandong Province and provide a net increase of 527 million cubic meters and 46 million cubic meters of water to Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province, respectively. Since the first phase of the East Line project was completed on November 15, 2013, it has successfully completed 11 annual water transfer tasks and supplied a total of 7.14 billion cubic meters of water to Shandong Province. This has effectively improved the water supply conditions in the receiving area, especially alleviating the shortage of water resources in the Shandong Peninsula and northern Shandong region.
