On January 23, 2025, the first green space project invested and constructed by China Three Gorges Corporation in Colombia, the Paranoa Phase I photovoltaic power station, successfully achieved full capacity grid connected power generation. This milestone achievement marks a solid step forward in energy cooperation between China and Colombia, and also sets a new example for China's photovoltaic industry chain to go global.

The Paranoa Phase I photovoltaic power station is located near the city of Paranoa in the North Atlantic Province of Colombia, with an installed capacity of 23300 kilowatts. Since the main construction of the project started in May 2023, Chinese and Colombian engineers have adhered to the construction concept of high quality and high standards, and after hard work, finally ushered in the historical moment of production and power generation.

According to the Three Gorges Latin America Company, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation, the annual power generation capacity of the Paranoa Phase I photovoltaic power station is expected to be 39 million kilowatt hours, which will effectively meet the electricity needs of about 16000 households in the local area and inject strong impetus into Colombia's energy transformation and green sustainable development. More importantly, the implementation of this project can reduce approximately 35000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, which has a positive impact on addressing climate change and protecting the environment.

At the launch ceremony of the main project, Roberto Celedong, the then mayor of Paranoa, stated that the city has about 12 hours of sunshine per day and abundant solar energy resources. The technology and investment from China will make the city an ideal place for producing solar energy, injecting new vitality into the local economic development.
