Recently, EMSTEEL, the largest local steel and building materials manufacturer in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, announced that it has reached a cooperation with Yellow Door Energy, a renewable energy enterprise. They will invest in and develop the largest industrial rooftop photovoltaic power generation project in the United Arab Emirates in Industrial City of Abu Dhabi Phase 1 (ICAD1).

The installed capacity of the project reaches 31.5 megawatts peak (MWp).

The project will install efficient solar energy systems on the rooftops of 40 factory buildings under EMSTEEL. Some areas of the carports will also use double-sided photovoltaic modules to maximize the power generation of clean energy.

According to the agreement, Yellow Door Energy will be responsible for the financing, construction, ownership, operation and maintenance of this project. EMSTEEL, on the other hand, can obtain green energy with zero upfront investment through the solar energy leasing model, significantly reducing energy consumption costs.

After the project is completed, it is expected to generate approximately 50 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 16,000 tons annually.

This will not only effectively reduce EMSTEEL's carbon footprint but also significantly enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of its manufacturing business.

This cooperation closely follows the UAE's national strategy of "Net Zero Emissions by 2050" and is an important part of the decarbonization transformation of the EMSTEEL Group.

The project will start construction in 2025 and be officially put into operation in 2026.

According to the long-term carbon reduction strategy of the EMSTEEL Group, the group plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in its steel business unit by 40% and in its cement business unit by 30% by 2030, and ultimately achieve the goal of comprehensive net zero emissions by 2050. (This article is from the official website of Seetao.com, www.seetao.com.
