In the wave of global energy transformation, Oman is seizing the commanding heights of the development of renewable energy in the Middle East with an innovative attitude. Recently, the first wind turbine manufacturing factory in the Middle East was officially established in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD), Oman. This modern factory, led by Mawarid Turbine Company, will become the core engine driving the transformation of Oman's energy structure.

The project plan demonstrates strong development momentum. The investment in the first phase exceeds $200 million. After completion, the annual production capacity will reach 1,000MW, focusing on two types of high-efficiency wind turbines with capacities of 6.25MW and 9.6MW. The factory is expected to start production in 2026. By then, it will not only provide localized core equipment for Oman's domestic wind power projects but also build a strategic platform for the localization of regional renewable energy technologies. According to calculations, the project can create 1,080 direct and indirect jobs throughout its life cycle, effectively promoting the coordinated development of the social economy.

Salim Nasser Al Aufi, Oman's Minister of Energy and Minerals, emphasized at the launching ceremony: "This factory is a key fulcrum for Oman to achieve its energy diversification strategy. We are fully promoting the construction to ensure that it starts production by the end of next year to meet the equipment requirements of major wind power projects in the next two years." Mustafa Mohamed Hanai, CEO of Mawarid Turbine Company, further revealed that the company aims to create an industrial ecosystem integrating industrial integration, technological innovation, and knowledge transfer, and in the future, it will enter the global market with its "Made in Oman" wind turbine products.

The international cooperation of the project is full of highlights. At the launching ceremony, Mawarid Turbine reached in-depth cooperation with Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group Co., Ltd. from China. The two sides signed agreements on technical licenses, joint research and development, technology transfer, and the supply of equipment for pilot wind farms, and will jointly carry out the design and research and development of the manufacturing system. Wu Lei, Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group, said that this cooperation is a vivid practice of the friendly relations between China and Oman, which will accelerate the implementation of high-end wind power technologies in Oman and empower the upgrading of the local clean energy industry. In addition, Mawarid Turbine also signed a memorandum of understanding on joint factory construction with the OQ Group and reached a talent cultivation agreement with Oman's Ministry of Labour and the Public Services Regulatory Authority. It plans to provide targeted training for 350 local technical backbones to lay a solid foundation of talents for the sustainable development of the industry.

The establishment of this landmark factory not only marks a major breakthrough in Oman's localization construction of the clean energy industry chain but also demonstrates its firm determination in the fields of independent technological innovation and high-quality employment. With the advancement of the project, Oman is steadily moving towards a new journey of energy transformation and economic diversification, setting a new benchmark for green development in the Middle East region. (This article is from the official website of Seetao.com, www.seetao.com.
