Against the backdrop of the accelerated global energy transition, Global Energy Co., Ltd. has successfully won the first publicly tendered photovoltaic project in Azerbaijan. This not only showcases the strong strength of Chinese new energy enterprises in "going global" but also marks a substantial step forward in Azerbaijan's green transformation.

On April 22nd, during the state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to China, Nan Yi, Chairman and President of Global Energy Co., Ltd., and Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, officially signed an investment agreement for a 100-megawatt photovoltaic power plant in Beijing. The project is located in the Gobustan region, 80 kilometers southwest of Baku. With a total investment of approximately US$51 million, it is planned to be connected to the grid for power generation in the middle of 2026. The project originated from an international tender launched during the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), attracting top international energy companies such as ACWA Power from Saudi Arabia and Masdar from the United Arab Emirates to compete.

Ultimately, Global Energy Co., Ltd. stood out and became the developer of the first new energy project introduced through international bidding in the history of Azerbaijan. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to generate an annual power output of 180 million kilowatt-hours and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 146,500 tons per year. This will not only provide a stable and reliable supply of green electricity to the local area but also serve as an important pillar for Azerbaijan to achieve its renewable energy development goals by 2030.

According to the agreement, the Azerbaijani government will provide comprehensive policy support in terms of tax incentives, land supply, grid connection, etc., and coordinate various departments to fully promote the implementation of the project. Minister Shahbazov stated that he looks forward to Chinese enterprises bringing in advanced green technologies, injecting strong impetus into the optimization of Azerbaijan's energy structure.

This successful layout in Azerbaijan not only consolidates Global Energy Co., Ltd.'s energy strategic map in the Middle East-Caspian Sea region but also lays a solid foundation for its further exploration of the South Caucasus market. As an important practice of Chinese new energy enterprises "going global", this project is expected to become a model of energy cooperation along the Belt and Road Initiative.  (This article is from the official website of Seetao.com, www.seetao.com.
