On February 26th, China Power Construction and Qatar Hydro officially signed an EPC general contract for a 500 MW single cycle peak shaving gas-fired power station in Doha. The project is located in the industrial zone on the south side of Doha and will be equipped with two advanced F-class gas turbine generators. It is planned to be put into commercial operation in January 2027.
As a key project for Qatar to cope with the summer electricity peak, the power station will effectively optimize the local energy structure after completion. Representatives from China Electric Power Construction's Middle East and North Africa regional headquarters and Shandong Electric Power Construction Third Company attended the signing ceremony, marking another important breakthrough for Chinese enterprises in the Qatar power sector.
Since entering the Qatar market in 2006, China Power Construction Corporation has successfully implemented 14 projects covering multiple fields such as electricity and infrastructure. This signing not only demonstrates the competitiveness of POWERCHINA in the Middle East power market, but also is another important achievement in implementing the "the Belt and Road" initiative and helping Qatar's "Vision 2030".
