In late May, the Tianshengqiao Second level Hydropower Station (1.32 million kilowatts), known as the "bridgehead" of China's West East Power Transmission, completed the renovation of its ecological flow discharge facilities, becoming the first million kilowatt water diversion hydropower station in the country to achieve ecological flow discharge. The project innovatively adopts the "dam body ecological discharge pipe" scheme, which will discharge no less than 530 million cubic meters of ecological water for the downstream river section every year while ensuring the safety of the dam.

As a key supervision project of the the Pearl River Committee, the reconstruction took five months to successfully solve the dehydration problem left over by history. By ensuring the water source for the habitats of rare species such as black leaf monkeys downstream, we aim to achieve year-round connectivity of the dehydrated river section while meeting the ecological flow control goals downstream, setting a new benchmark for ecological governance of hydropower projects in the basin.
