On June 14, 2025, the Abuja South Outer Ring Road Phase II project constructed by China Land Overseas Nigeria was officially completed. The completion ceremony was held at the site and attended by dignitaries such as Akpabio, President of the Nigerian Senate and Wike, Minister of the Capital Region, as well as Wang Yingqi, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, and Zhong Xiang, General Manager of China Land Overseas Nigeria, among other guests. More than two thousand people from the neighboring communities were present to witness the event.

Akpabio delivered a speech on behalf of the president, giving high praise to the excellent construction quality and efficient construction capability of China Land Overseas. He pointed out that the OSEX Phase II project, as an important component of Nigeria's “Rekindling Hope Agenda”, has significantly optimized the structure of the capital's road network, and is of key significance to improving the quality of life of Abuja residents and driving regional economic growth.

In his speech, Minister Wike emphasized that the OSEX Phase II road is an outstanding project that has successfully overcome many construction challenges. He mentioned that the project has significantly reduced the commuting time from some communities to the Abuja city to about 10 minutes after the project opened in the region's suburbs, where congestion was a constraint to economic development.

As a key infrastructure addition to the metropolitan area, the OSEX Phase II road will effectively enhance the effectiveness of regional emergency response and significantly improve access between urban and suburban areas. It will also play a prominent role in optimizing logistics efficiency, reducing transportation costs, and unlocking the investment potential of southern Abuja, which will create a broader space for local development.

The OSEX II project starts from the Southern Outer Ring Road and First Ring Road Interchange in Abuja and extends to the suburb of Wassa. The construction includes a 15-kilometer-long left-span road, a bridge across the river and the laying of communication pipelines. Designed to the highest Nigerian standards, the road is a four-lane dual carriageway and is an extension of the Southern Outer Ring Road, with its connecting successor route to Nasarawa State.

With the completion of OSEX Phase II, it is successfully connected with the Abuja North Outer Ring Expressway and South Outer Ring Expressway Phase I, which have been put into use by China Land Overseas, so that the overall transportation network system in Abuja is more complete. This will not only significantly shorten the commuting time and ease traffic congestion, but will also drive the economic vitality of the areas along the route, promote the prosperity of industry, commerce and services, and provide strong support for enhancing the comprehensive strength of the regional economy.(This article is from the official website of Jian Dao www.seetao.com.
