Pleniude, an Italian company, announced that the northern block of its Renopol solar power plant located in the Solana Delos Baros area of Badajoz, Extremadura Province, Spain, has been successfully connected to the grid. The project consists of seven photovoltaic power stations in two blocks, with a total installed capacity of 330 megawatts, and is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2025. The northern block connected to the grid this time includes three photovoltaic power stations with an installed capacity of 130 megawatts and an expected annual power generation of over 265 gigawatt hours.
The smooth progress of the project is attributed to the efficient execution of the main contractor OHLA and close collaboration with the local government in Spain. Mariangiola Mollicone, the head of renewable energy business in Western Europe at Pleniude, said, "The grid connection of Renopol's first block is a key milestone in our renewable energy strategy in Spain. This project is not only the largest solar facility of the company, but also will bring significant environmental and economic benefits to the local area, and assist in the transformation of Spain's energy structure. "
Pleniude attaches great importance to ecological protection and has launched a five-year joint study with the University of Extremadura in Spain to monitor the wildlife and soil conditions in the power plant area. In addition, the company plans to manage over 100 hectares of land specifically for protecting grassland breeding birds to promote biodiversity. Pleniude's total installed capacity of renewable energy projects in the provinces of Extremadura, Castile and Le ó n, and Andalusia in Spain has reached approximately 1300 megawatts. As a subsidiary of the Italian Eni Group, the company is accelerating the development of multiple renewable energy technologies, aiming to achieve an installed capacity of over 2 gigawatts.
The successful implementation of the Renopool project highlights the important role of Plenitude in Spain's energy transformation, which not only provides clean electricity to the local area, but also takes into account economic growth and environmental protection, providing a model case for international energy cooperation under the framework of China's the Belt and Road Initiative.
