The government of Burkina Faso recently reached a public-private partnership with the Dutch company Gutami Holdings to jointly develop and construct a 150 megawatt solar photovoltaic power generation project, and to build a 50 megawatt hour battery energy storage system. The project has obtained all key approval documents, including permits, licenses, and land rights.
According to the agreement, the Dutch holding company Gutami has signed a 25 year power purchase agreement with Burkina Faso's national power company, and all the energy generated by the project will be integrated into Burkina Faso's national power grid. The internationally renowned law firm Meiya Bo provided professional consulting services for this project.

After completion, this project will become one of the largest solar power projects in West Africa and is planned to be put into commercial operation in 2027. According to statistics from the International Renewable Energy Agency, as of the end of 2024, Burkina Faso's installed solar power capacity has reached 206 megawatts, a significant increase from 177 megawatts in 2023.
The implementation of this project will further enhance the utilization level of renewable energy in Burkina Faso, improve the local energy supply structure, and set a new benchmark for the development of clean energy in West Africa. After completion, the project is expected to effectively alleviate the power supply shortage in Burkina Faso and promote local economic and social development.
