The Abydos energy storage power station, the country's first large-scale commercial solar energy integration project, has recently been put into operation in the Komombo area of Aswan Province, Egypt. As an important supporting project for the 500MW Kangombo photovoltaic power station, the project was developed by AMEA Power and uses the energy storage system provided by China's Trina Solar. The total capacity is 300MWh, which will significantly improve the stability of the power grid and the efficiency of renewable energy utilization.
Tianhe Solar has provided an independently developed intelligent liquid cooled energy storage system for this project, equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries, which can operate stably in high temperatures of 50 ℃ and strong sand and dust environments. The system utilizes intelligent temperature control technology to control the temperature difference of the battery within 2 ℃, and integrates comprehensive safety protection mechanisms to achieve full stack technology output from the DC cabin to the AC interface.

The project construction fully demonstrates the "Chinese speed", taking only 60 days from equipment lifting to grid connected power generation, which is two months ahead of the original plan and 60% shorter than the average cycle of similar international projects. This efficiency is attributed to the modular prefabrication production mode, efficient collaboration between the Chinese and Egyptian teams, and the rich overseas experience of Chinese enterprises.
The Abydos project has an annual peak shaving capacity of 180 million kilowatt hours, which is equivalent to saving 54000 tons of standard coal and creating 300 job opportunities for the local area. It is expected that by the end of 2025, the project will train 200 certified energy storage technology engineers, providing solid support for Egypt to achieve the goal of 42% renewable energy by 2035 in the "2030 Vision".
