Egypt is attracting the attention of leading global companies with its grand new energy transformation plan. On September 14th local time, Egyptian President Sisi met with Norwegian energy company Scatec CEO Terje Pierskog and Sunshine Power Chairman Cao Renxian to hold high-level consultations on multiple new energy cooperation projects. The participation of the Egyptian Prime Minister and core ministers from multiple sectors such as industry, transportation, and electricity in the meeting demonstrates the Egyptian government's high emphasis on energy transition and foreign direct investment.

Scatec has currently deployed multiple major projects with a total investment of 3.6 billion US dollars within the framework of Egypt's "NWFE" national plan, covering multiple clean energy sectors such as photovoltaics, energy storage, green hydrogen/green ammonia, and wind power. Specifically, it includes the Naghamadi "Obelisk" solar power plant, a 1GW photovoltaic+200MWh energy storage project supporting the Egyptian aluminum industry, Egypt's first green hydrogen and green ammonia facility in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, as well as the Rasshuqael "Shadwang" wind farm and the Dumyat green ammonia project.

On the other hand, Sunac Power has proposed to build an energy storage battery factory with an annual capacity of 10GW in Egypt. If successfully implemented, it will greatly promote Egypt's transformation from a new energy project development country to a high-end manufacturing country. The company expressed its willingness to deepen the localization cooperation of the industrial chain with the Egyptian side.

Egypt is actively building a strategic system for the integration of renewable energy manufacturing and utilization, accelerating its capacity building in multiple fields such as green hydrogen, energy storage, photovoltaics, and wind power by attracting foreign investment and promoting technology localization. It is expected that in the coming years, the new energy market in Egypt will see more breakthroughs in international investment and localized projects.

With the deep involvement of international new energy leaders such as Scatec and Sunac, Egypt is rapidly rising as a new highland for the green energy industry in North Africa. These collaborations will not only help Egypt achieve its renewable energy goals, but also promote the country's transformation from an energy importing country to a regional energy center and manufacturing base. The booming development of Egypt's new energy industry will also provide new momentum for energy transformation in Africa and the Middle East, playing an increasingly important role in the global energy landscape.
