Recently, KEOLIS India signed a 10-year agreement worth 10 billion rupees with Pune IT City Metro (PITCMRL, a joint venture between Tata and Siemens) and Pune Metro AG Regional Development Authority to operate Pune Metro Line 3/Pink Line.

The 23.3-kilometer Line 3 is being constructed through a public-private partnership model, extending from Xinjawadi to the Civil Court with 23 stations. It is expected to be completed by March 2026. Last month, PMRDA released one of the first 22 urban three carriage subway trains manufactured by Alstom at its factory in Sri City, southern India, after two successful trial runs.
In recent years, the development momentum of Pune Metro has been rapid, and Maharashtra Metro is advancing a two-stage development strategy. In August 2024, Metro AG approved the underground extension plan of Line 1/Purple Line with a value of 29.5 billion rupees (335.8 million US dollars), connecting Swagat and Katraki, and setting up three new stations, namely Market Square, Bibuewadi and Balajanagar. It is planned to be completed in February 2029, jointly funded by the Central Government of India and Malaysia, supported by bilateral funding agencies, and jointly financed by public investment.

In June 2025, the Indian government approved the extension project of Line 2/Shui Se Line worth 36.2 billion rupees, which will extend by 12.75 kilometers. The approved extension plan includes two new sections, both planned to be completed by 2029: one is the 1.1-kilometer western section from Wanaz to Chandnichok, with two new stations; The second is the 11.6-kilometer eastern section from Ramwadi via Wagholi to Vitarawadi, with 11 new stations.
