Recently, the Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration jointly issued the "Action Plan for the Large scale Construction of New Energy Storage (2025-2027)", which clarifies that by 2027, the installed capacity of new energy storage in China will reach over 180 million kilowatts. In this context, the energy construction in Liangzhou District has made significant progress - the 300MW/1200MWh independent energy storage power station project with a total investment of 1.26 billion yuan has officially started construction in the Jiuduntan Photovoltaic Sand Control Demonstration Park.

The project has a grand scale, with a maximum output power of 300000 kilowatts and the ability to store and release 1.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity, resembling a super large city power bank. After completion, it will become an important regulatory resource for the regional power grid, contributing to the construction of a new power system and promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of energy in Liangzhou District.
The project adopts a centralized energy storage system scheme, mainly constructing 60 sets of 5MW/20MWh energy storage units. Each unit consists of one set of 5MW PCS boost conversion cabin and four sets of 5MWh energy storage battery containers. The battery cells are made of lithium iron phosphate batteries, with a designed operating life of 20 years and a minimum of 6000 cycles. They are mainly used for power grid peak shaving and frequency regulation. At present, 60 boost conversion cabins and 240 energy storage battery containers are about to enter the site, and the installation is planned to be completed by the end of September.

After the project is completed and put into operation, it will receive unified dispatch from Gansu Power Grid and participate in various auxiliary services such as power grid peak shaving, frequency regulation, emergency backup power supply, etc. This will not only greatly enhance the allocation space of new energy generation, promote the consumption of new energy in the region, reduce the load pressure on the power grid, and help ensure energy supply, but also inject strong impetus into the development of the new energy industry cluster in Liangzhou District.
According to the plan, the project will be completed and connected to the grid for operation on December 31, 2025. At that time, it can effectively alleviate the peak shaving pressure brought by the rapid development of new energy in the province, which is of great significance for the province to achieve high-quality and large-scale development of new energy storage and high-quality leapfrog development of new energy, and write a new chapter for the green development of energy.Editor/Cheng Liting
