Egyptian contractor Petrojet recently defeated multiple international competitors and successfully won the general contracting contract for the second phase of the Hassi Bir Rekaiz oil field development project in Algeria, with a contract amount of 1.087 billion US dollars. The project is jointly operated by a joint venture between Sonatrach, the Algerian national oil company, and PTTEP, Thailand.
According to the contract, Petrojet will serve as the lead contractor and collaborate with Arkad, an Italian company, to implement the project. The scope of the project includes the construction of a central processing facility with a daily processing capacity of 31500 barrels, as well as a supporting pipeline system with a total length of 217 kilometers. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2028.

The Hassi Bir Rekaiz oil field is located in the Belkin Basin in eastern Algeria, with a total area of 1916 square kilometers and covering multiple blocks. The oil field was put into operation three years ago, with an initial daily production of 13000 barrels. The second phase of the project is planned to be carried out in two stages, with the target daily production of 31500 barrels in Phase A and further increased to 63000 barrels in Phase B.
Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi stated that Petrojet's successful expansion in the international market reflects the Egyptian oil industry's ability to implement large-scale projects. This achievement is in line with the strategic plan of the Egyptian Ministry of Oil to strengthen regional cooperation with partner countries and promote the development of Egyptian oil and gas companies in the international market, especially in the Arab and African markets.
This cooperation will also deepen the long-term partnership between Petrojet and Sonatrach, with plans to establish a joint manufacturing workshop to further enhance project added value and achieve sustainable foreign exchange earnings. The successful acquisition of this project demonstrates the competitive strength of Egyptian engineering contracting enterprises in the international energy field. Editor/Yang Beihua
