The construction plan for the 1541 kilometer North South high-speed railway line has added key projects such as the Hanoi Guangning high-speed railway line, marking a new stage in Vietnam's railway infrastructure construction. According to the latest plan, the Hanoi Guangning high-speed railway line has a total length of 124 kilometers, starting from Guluo Station (connecting to Hanoi City Railway Line 4), passing through Jiaping Station at Jiaping International Airport in Beining Province, and ending at Halong Green Station in Guangning Province, and achieving interconnection with the planned Haiphong Halong Mangjie railway line. The project is planned to complete investment and construction before 2030, with an estimated total investment of 5.4 billion US dollars.
In July 2025, the well-known Vietnamese enterprise Wenna Group proposed to the government to invest in the construction of the Hanoi Guangning railway line. According to the plan, the route is designed to reach a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, with a standard gauge of 1435 millimeters, specifically for passenger services. The route plan includes four main stations: Guluo, Jiaping, Anzi, and Halong. If passing through Anyuan Station, an additional station will be added, with a total land requirement of approximately 308 hectares.

This planning adjustment also clarified the investment schedule for multiple important railway projects. The Hanoi Tongdeng (Langshan) line is 156 kilometers long and adopts a double track, 1435mm gauge standard. The original plan was to invest after 2030, but it is now being launched before 2030. Similarly, the Haiphong Ha Long Mang Street (Guangning Province) line has a total length of approximately 187 kilometers, and feasibility studies for projects such as the Champa Dalat line and the Anping Saigon (Hexing) - Xinjian line will also be conducted before 2030.
The new version of the plan also includes plans to upgrade and renovate seven existing national railway lines, with a focus on promoting the construction of the North South high-speed railway line. At the same time, new railway lines will be built to connect the Haiphong area and the international gateway port of Ho Chi Minh City, including the Lao Cai Hanoi Haiphong line and the Bianhe Tounton line. It is worth noting that the plan emphasizes prioritizing investment in the construction of international railway corridors connecting China, Laos, and Cambodia to ensure compliance with international transportation agreements and keep pace with the railway construction progress of countries in the region. This will have a profound impact on promoting regional economic integration. Editor/Yang Beihua
