Recently, the important project of Wanma New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.'s new energy storage special action, the 500000 kW/2 million kWh grid side energy storage project, has officially started construction in Naiman Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The project has a total investment of 1.9 billion yuan and is located in Daqintala Town, Naiman Banner, adjacent to the Naiman Jinsha 500kV substation. The planned land area is about 200 acres, marking a new stage of development for large-scale energy storage construction on China's power grid side.
As an important grid side energy storage facility in Inner Mongolia, the project is planned to have a construction scale of 500MW/2000MWh and will all adopt the lithium iron phosphate battery technology route. The project plan is to configure 100 sets of 5MW/20MWh lithium iron phosphate energy storage units, each consisting of 1 5MWPCS integrated machine and 4 5MWh lithium iron phosphate battery compartments. The supporting battery control cabinet, combiner cabinet, fire protection, HVAC system are all integrated and installed in prefabricated battery containers to achieve standardized and modular deployment.

In terms of electrical connection scheme, the innovative design of the project will integrate lithium iron phosphate batteries into a 24 circuit collection line and connect it to a 35kV distribution device. The 35kV distribution equipment adopts an expanded unit single busbar connection method, which is boosted to 220kV through two 250MVA main transformers. The 220kV side of the boosting station adopts a single busbar connection, and a new 220kV line is built to connect to the 220kV side of the Jinsha 500kV substation, ensuring efficient and stable transmission of electrical energy to the main power grid.
The construction of this large-scale energy storage project will not only greatly enhance the peak shaving capacity and new energy consumption level of the power grid in eastern Mongolia, but also have significant significance in promoting local economic and social development. According to calculations, after the project is fully put into operation, it can achieve an annual sales revenue of about 3 billion yuan, contribute 100 million yuan in tax revenue, and provide 200 job opportunities, achieving a win-win situation of economic and social benefits.
Against the backdrop of accelerating the construction of a new power system in China, the start of construction of the Wanma New Energy project provides an important practical case for the technology selection, system integration, and business model innovation of large-scale energy storage projects on the grid side.
