Against the backdrop of actively promoting green and low-carbon transformation globally, Zhangye City in Gansu Province has taken a crucial step - the construction of the Green Fuel Zero Carbon Industrial Park has officially begun. The annual production of 100000 tons of green methanol project, as a core project, is steadily advancing, marking Zhangye's substantial construction stage in the development of zero carbon energy industry.

The project is located in Minle County and is implemented by Zhongke Nengyuan Chemical (Gansu) Co., Ltd., led by China National Chemical Corporation. The park is planned to be constructed in two phases with a total investment of 3 billion yuan, ultimately forming an industrial scale of producing 300000 tons of green methanol annually. The first phase of the 100000 ton green methanol project currently underway, with an investment of 1.05 billion yuan, will be accompanied by the construction of an annual production capacity of 13500 tons of electrolytic water for hydrogen production, an annual processing capacity of 250000 tons of biomass gasification plant, and a 300000 ton steam plant. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in December 2026.

It is worth mentioning that this project innovatively uses agricultural and forestry waste such as reed straw and rapeseed straw as raw materials, and synthesizes green methanol through advanced technology, achieving clean and efficient utilization of resources. At the same time, the industrial park will also simultaneously build SOEC engineering application demonstration centers, multi oxygen combustion gasification furnace engineering demonstration centers, and green methanol guarantee supply bases, providing important support for the promotion and application of green fuel technology.

It is reported that the project has been registered and approved through the Gansu Province Investment Project Online Approval and Supervision Platform on November 10th. This important progress not only provides guarantees for the smooth implementation of the project, but also means that Zhangye has made substantial breakthroughs in building a green, low-carbon, and circular development economic system.
