Recently, the leading European construction company STRABAG Group Oman has successfully won the bid for a major infrastructure project worth 102 million euros, and will be responsible for the comprehensive upgrade of the road system in the city center of Muscat, the capital of Oman. The implementation of this project will significantly improve the transportation conditions in the core area of Muscat and enhance the level of urban infrastructure.

The project is led by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of Oman, aiming to alleviate the long-standing traffic pressure in the city center of Muscat through systematic transformation. The project will focus on the comprehensive renovation of November 18th Street and AI Muji Street, including widening the main roads to three lanes, constructing overpasses and underground passages to achieve three-dimensional traffic diversion, and transforming the roundabout into a modern intersection controlled by signal lights. These measures will effectively enhance road traffic capacity and strengthen the connection efficiency between the city center and key nodes such as Muscat International Airport and the Qaboos Sultan Expressway.
It is reported that the total length of the project is 8.7 kilometers, and it is planned to start construction in January 2026 with a construction period of 30 months. As the general contractor, STRABAG Oman will be fully responsible for the planning and construction of the project. To ensure the normal operation of urban traffic during the construction period, the project will adopt measures such as segmented construction and temporary traffic diversion to minimize the impact on citizens' travel.
The STRABAG Group considers Oman as a strategically important market. In addition to the road renovation project obtained this time, the company is investing in the construction of a new regional headquarters building in western Muscat. This five story building has a total investment of 12.4 million euros and a construction area of approximately 7500 square meters. It is expected to be completed in the spring of 2027. The new headquarters will provide modern office space and sufficient parking facilities, further consolidating STRABAG's business layout in the Oman market.
