On January 24, 2026, Ambassador Fang Hong met with Lieutenant General Kang Liang Utakeishan, member of the Political Bureau of the Lao Party Central Committee and Minister of National Defense.

Ambassador Fang congratulated Lieutenant General Kanliang on his election as a member of the Political Bureau of the Lao People's Party Central Committee, stating that military cooperation between China and Laos is an important component of bilateral exchanges and cooperation. Currently, China Laos relations are at their best in history, and military cooperation between the two armies has broad prospects and enormous potential. China is willing to work together with the Lao People's Army to implement the action plan for the China Laos community of shared future signed by the top leaders of the two parties and countries, continue to deepen military cooperation projects, and safeguard the China Laos community of shared future through practical actions.
