On January 31, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Wang Yu met with Somali Prime Minister Barre.

Ambassador Wang stated that China and Somalia have always supported each other in defending their national sovereignty and territorial integrity. China has been actively assisting Somalia in its national reconstruction and economic and social development, and will provide a new batch of humanitarian assistance to help Somalia cope with the recent severe drought.
