On February 8, 2026, Ambassador Yao Wen attended the signing ceremony of the intergovernmental framework agreement for the ship procurement project, representing the Chinese government and signing the agreement with Siddiqui, the Permanent Secretary of the Economic Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Finance of Bangladesh.  

Ambassador Yao stated that the ship procurement project will enhance the ocean transportation capacity of Bangladesh, which is conducive to expanding the scale of foreign trade and enhancing the autonomy of Bangladesh's shipping industry. China will continue to implement a policy of good neighborliness and friendship towards all the people of Bangladesh, promote economic and trade cooperation between China and Bangladesh to a new level, and bring more benefits to the people of Bangladesh.   

Siddiqui and other Bangladeshi officials highly praised the signing of the agreement and thanked China for its strong support for the economic and social development of Bangladesh.  

The ship procurement project is a Sino Bangladeshi government cooperation project provided by the Chinese government with preferential loans. It will build four new ships for the Bangladeshi side, including two original oil tankers and two bulk carriers.Editor/Bian Wenjun
