The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement on May 5th, stating that according to international law and relevant resolutions, Iran has the right to control passage and navigation in the Strait of Hormuz during times of war. The statement emphasized that military and commercial vessels belonging to the United States, Israel, European countries, and their supporters are prohibited from passing through the strait, and "if discovered by the IRGC, they will be dealt with severely."

Iran stated that, to express its "gratitude" for China's stance in the conflict, it will only allow Chinese vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. According to ship tracking data from shipping company Kpler, a bulk carrier named "Iron Maiden" changed its vessel identification signal from "awaiting instructions" to "CHINA OWNER" in the early hours of May 5th, and simultaneously broke through the shipping lanes along the Omani coastline, safely passing through the strait.Editor/Cao Tianyi
