Saudi Arabian Railways (SAR) has increased the capacity of the Haraman High-Speed Railway to over 2.21 million seats for the 2026 Hajj season, further enhancing transportation services between Mecca and Medina and meeting the travel needs of pilgrims.
Compared to the previous season, this Hajj season sees an increase of over 210,000 seats, with plans to add 5,308 train services, an increase of approximately 11%, to fully accommodate the growing travel demands of pilgrims and ensure smooth transportation during the Hajj period.
The Hajj transportation service on this line will officially commence on May 5th, with the first trains departing from King Abdulaziz International Airport station in Jeddah for Mecca, marking the full opening of Haraman Railway services for the 2026 Hajj season.
According to SAR, the Haraman High-Speed Railway will deploy 35 trains along its 453-kilometer length, with a maximum speed of 300 kilometers per hour. The one-way journey between Mecca and Medina will take approximately two hours. The line has five stations along its route, achieving efficient connectivity between the two holy cities via Jeddah.

This capacity increase aligns with Saudi Arabia's national transportation and logistics strategy and echoes the core objectives of "Saudi Vision 2030," aiming to further enhance transportation convenience during the Hajj pilgrimage and continuously optimize the travel experience for pilgrims.
