On the map of energy development in Mexico, a milestone cooperation has officially landed - Subsea7 has awarded the subsea pre commissioning contract for the country's first ultra deepwater oil development project to EnerMech, an integrated solutions expert in Aberdeen. This is not only a technological collaboration between the two companies, but also marks a crucial step forward in Mexico's deep-sea energy development, laying the foundation for the first oil target by 2028.

Precise Dance for Deep Water Operations

EnerMech will deploy a complete set of pre commissioning equipment to provide water injection, cleaning, sizing, hydrostatic testing, nitrogen dehydration, and pre commissioning operations for the Trion project. These services will be seamlessly synchronized with Subsea7's subsea umbilical, riser, and flowline (SURF) installation plan. The technical team will provide support across borders from the Houston base in Texas to the Bia El Mosa facility in Mexico; The on-site planning personnel work closely with the Subsea7 team to optimize the sequence of operations, minimize interference from simultaneous operations of multiple trades at sea (SIMOPS), and ensure the advancement of critical paths. As Charles "Chuck" Davidson Jr., CEO of EnerMech, said, "With our technological capabilities, professional equipment, and execution certainty, we provide safe and efficient support for Subsea7, which has strategic significance for Mexico and the entire region. ”

Energy blueprint below 2500 meters

The Trion project is located in the Perdido fold belt sea area, 180 kilometers away from the coast, with a water depth of 2500-2600 meters. It is jointly developed by Woodside and PEMEX. The project will drill 24 subsea oil wells, connected to newly built floating production units and floating oil storage and unloading units, with a rated production capacity of 100000 barrels of crude oil per day. It is expected that the first oil production will be achieved in 2028, and this ultra deep water development will not only release the energy potential of the Gulf of Mexico, but also provide a new pivot for regional energy security.Editor/Cheng Liting
