Following the conclusion of a week-long visit to China, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, revealed that China is willing to assist Pakistan in establishing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) center. Currently, both nations are working vigorously to expand cooperation across the fields of education, technology, and skills development, thereby injecting fresh momentum into the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Educational cooperation between China and Pakistan has transcended traditional models, advancing toward a new phase characterized by comprehensive and deep-seated engagement. The two sides are no longer confined to the mere provision of scholarships and student exchange programs; rather, their collaboration now extends to areas such as technical capacity building, digital transformation, and scientific research partnerships. The establishment of the AI center is poised to become a landmark project in the realm of emerging technologies for both countries.

Minister Siddiqui noted that 40,000 Pakistani students are currently pursuing their studies in China. The Pakistani government is actively encouraging more young people to pursue education in China, with a specific focus on delving into emerging fields—such as AI, cloud computing, and big data—to cultivate highly skilled talent capable of meeting the demands of the global job market. Upon returning home after completing their studies, these students are expected to form the backbone of Pakistan's technological advancement. Pakistan possesses a vast youth population, a distinct advantage for its national development. Through cooperation with China in establishing the AI center and conducting vocational skills training, Pakistan aims to transform its "youth demographic dividend" into a globally competitive workforce. This initiative will provide the core human capital necessary for industrial upgrading and economic growth, thereby empowering the country to achieve leapfrog development in the digital economy era. Editor/Sunyaxin
