The Burkina Faso-Ghana Railway Interconnection Project will be implemented in 2022. This was confirmed by John Peter AMEWU, Minister of Railway Development in Ghana. Ameou made these remarks during a two-day visit to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. He served as Minister of Railways in Ouagadougou and inspected the implementation of relevant projects.
In order to respect the provisional timetable for the effective start of the implementation of the project, the two countries represented by the Minister of Ghana and the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso Christophe Joseph Marie Dabiré agreed to finalize a number of actions in 2021.
These measures include coordinating the tax and tariff systems of the project, completing issues related to the requisition and compensation of landowners along the line, and most importantly, completing the selection of suitable contractors and financial programs for the project.
