Saudi Arabia and Türkiye are accelerating the construction of the railway corridor connecting Syria and Jordan. The two sides have launched a joint feasibility study, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026. This north-south corridor, based on the historical route of the Hanzhi Railway, will be connected to the Saudi railway system and reach Riyadh in the future, injecting new momentum into the connectivity of the Middle East region. According to the latest progress, Türkiye, Syria and Jordan have reached a tripartite cooperation mechanism to jointly promote the reconstruction and connectivity of the railway network. The first phase of the project will focus on upgrading the Türkiye Syria Jordan railway trunk line, and then the line will continue to extend southward, connecting to the Saudi railway system and reaching Riyadh. At present, the financing and implementation path is still being promoted. After the completion of this modern railway corridor, it will effectively improve the efficiency of north-south transportation of goods and personnel in the Middle East region, promote economic and trade exchanges and regional economic integration among countries along the route.Editor/Gao Xue
