Recently, it was learned from the official website of the Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission that the proposal for the project of crossing the Yangtze River between Dijiao and Industrial Avenue in Wuhan has been approved. Wuhan will build a new bridge across the river connecting Houhu Avenue in Jiang’an District to Industrial Avenue in Qingshan District.

It is reported that the project will build a bridge across the river. The construction content includes bridge engineering, road engineering, traffic engineering, drainage engineering, electrical engineering, etc. The main bridge across the Yangtze River is about 3780 meters in length and 42 meters in width. The unit of the project is Wuhan Urban Construction Investment and Development Group Co., Ltd. The estimated total investment of the project is 4.688 billion yuan. It is planned to adopt the PPP model, and the Wuhan Municipal Government and related units will jointly raise funds.

In 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the "Layout Plan for the Yangtze River Main Line Crossing Channel (2020-2035)", clarifying that by 2025, in order to meet the economic and social development of the regions along the Yangtze River and the north-south transportation needs, the country will focus on promoting the implementation of 79 river crossings. There are 24 channels in Hubei and 16 in Wuhan.

At present, Wuhan City has built 16 roads, tracks, roads + tracks composite crossing the Yangtze River, including Wuhan Junshan Yangtze River Bridge, Zhuankou Yangtze River Highway Bridge, Baishazhou Yangtze River Bridge, Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge, Naozhou Yangtze River Bridge, Wuhan Railway Line 4 River Crossing Channel, Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, Wuhan Railway Line 2 River Crossing Channel, Wuhan Yangtze River Tunnel, Wuhan Railway Line 7 River Crossing Channel, Wuhan Railway Line 8 River Crossing Channel, Wuhan Yangtze River Second Bridge, Wuhan Second Seven Yangtze River Bridge, Tianxingzhou Yangtze River Bridge, Wuhan Yangluo Yangtze River Highway Bridge and Qingshan Yangtze River Highway Bridge.

By 2025, Wuhan plans to build 16 more river-crossing passages, including the Hannan River-crossing passage of the Wuhan Metropolitan Area Circle Line, the Second Junshan Yangtze River Bridge, the Wuhan Rail Line 17-crossing the River (Qingling River-crossing passage), and the Wuhan Baishazhou passage.
